Per 20 VSA 2410 the Council Advisory Committee has been created. The Council Advisory Committee shall advise and assist the Criminal Justice Training Council in developing procedures to ensure that allegations of unprofessional conduct by law enforcement officers are investigated fully and fairly, and to ensure that appropriate action is taken in regard to those allegations. This is a governor appointed committee and as such interested persons should follow this link to submit an application to join. 7 VSA 657 , 13 VSA 1026(a) , 13 VSA 7559(d),(e), and (f) , and 20 VSA 3132 have been added to the Level II scope of practice. Find the full scope of practice here . Act 60 (S.9) , which came into effect July 1, 2015, made some changes to mandated reporting procedures, child abuse definitions, and information sharing. Message From the Director Welcome to the home page of the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council (VCJTC). The VCJTC operates the Vermont Police Academy and oversees the training and certification of state, county and local law enforcement professionals in the State of Vermont. I am extremely proud of the staff at the Vermont Police Academy and honored to be associated with them. The staff has a passion for providing excellent training and works tirelessly to ensure that the training of policing professionals in Vermont meets the needs of those we serve. We are committed to developing and implementing best practices in training in order to give law enforcement officers the tools to provide superior public safety services. We understand the critical importance of our role in training, mentoring and coaching the future law enforcement officers of Vermont. The work at the Vermont Police Academy would not be truly successful without the ongoing support and commitment from our allied agencies, providing countless hours of adjunct instruction time, committee work and oversight. I want to recognize our partnership with the Vermont State Police, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife, the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, the Vermont Sheriffs, the Vermont Chiefs of Police and all the other partner organizations.
